We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our 2-day Hands-on Workshop: Exploration into Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System, held on 15th and 16th May 2024 at Politeknik Mersing (PMJ). This workshop was conducted by Department of Electrical Engineering in collaboration with the IEEE Malaysia Section, under the Educational Activities Committee (EAC) Project Development Grant 2024, and supported by IEEE Region 10 (Asia) and IEEE Malaysia Section.
The workshop brought together 20 students from SMK Kahang and SMK Sultan Abdul Jalil, along with their dedicated teachers. Over the course of two days, participants had the unique opportunity to dive deep into the world of solar energy, exploring its potential and understanding its importance in our journey toward a sustainable future.
Workshop Highlights:
• Opportunities in IEEE for Members & Volunteers;
• An introduction to solar energy from a Malaysian perspective;
• Six engaging hands-on experiments, including current, voltage, and power measurements, irradiation and temperature assessments, and the characteristics of solar panels;
• A visit to a small-scale solar project at PMJ; and
• Interactive discussions and data analysis sessions.
This workshop not only provided practical knowledge and skills but also inspired young minds to consider careers in renewable energy and technology. The enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by the students were truly commendable, and we are confident that they will be future leaders in the green energy revolution.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to IEEE Malaysia Section, IEEE Region 10, the organizing committee, and all the participants for making this workshop a resounding success. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
Stay tuned for more exciting outreach events from PMJ!
